Cyber Tip #2
I was with my friend Kathy and she was using the GPS on her phone. As we drove around stores and houses, her phone was constantly trying to connect to nearby WIFI signals. This could happen to you whenever you walk in public areas where WiFi services are available.
The risk is that in some cases these networks could be fake or infected, and if you connect to them, Cybermonsters will be able to steal your information
To avoid this from happening, do this simple change:
- On your iOS phone open your settings and turn off the “Ask to join networks” option
- On your Android phone, open your settings and go to these options: Network & Internet then >WiFi>then WiFi preferences. Now you would click the button next to “Connect to open networks,” and proceed to disable it.
This simple change allows you to be in charge and you now have the power to decide whether you want to connect to a WiFi or not!
